The Paul Bunyan Trophy stayed with Michigan in 2024.

The Wolverines took down Michigan State by the final score of 24-17 in Saturday’s Big Ten showdown, snapping a brief two-game losing streak.

Davis Warren started under center for the first time since Sept. 14 and wrapped up an efficient performance. Warren finished 13-of-19 for 123 yards and a touchdown without recording a turnover.

Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore also utilized quarterback Alex Orji in the run game, as he picked up 64 yards and a score on six carries.

Moore’s offense got creative against the Spartans, as running back Donovan Edwards threw a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter on a trick play.

Wolverines’ defense keeps it close and the Spartans at bay, while Michigan’s offense calls a nothing-to-lose game, and it largely works.

Michigan has won three straight games over Michigan State for the first time since 2002-07

Swanky Wolverine @swankywolverineThat might have been one of the best looking drives of the season right there. What a way to start the half for Michigan.

Brandon Brown @BSB_WolverineThat drive is as good as Michigan has looked all season. Maybe that’ll give them a little shot in the arm for this game for sure and moving forward.

Blake Evans @B3AZY19Proud of my wolverines tonight!! They brought some effort tonight

Tempers flared after the final whistle, as players needed to be separated once the Wolverines kneeled the ball.

It wasn’t a flawless all-around performance from Michigan, as the team’s defense struggled without standout cornerback Will Johnson. The Spartans compiled 352 total yards and converted eight of their 15 third-down opportunities.

Still, Moore’s squad made enough plays to emerge victorious and improve to 5-3 on the season as a whole.
