Jerry Phele is back on TV.

VETERAN actor Jerry Phele emphasised that people should not only associate him with his Emzini Wezinsizwa character, Mofokeng.

He said he’s a versatile actor, and he can play all characters, and his name is Jerry Phele, not Mofokeng.

Jerry said he is grateful to get an acting gig after three years of staying at home hunting for it. He has joined Smoke & Mirrors on e.tv.

Although his character is a cameo role, the actor said it was a pleasure to get an acting gig after a long time.

Jerry will shake things up at Ebumnyameni on Smoke & Mirrors, which airs at 9pm on weekdays.

He made his debut on Monday, 24 June.

The 67-year-old actor from the Free State told Daily Sun that his last role was on Mzansi Magic’s Abomama Bomthandazo three years ago.

“I was sitting at home wondering what would happen with my acting talent, and now I’m grateful that Smoke & Mirrors gave me an opportunity after a while.

“Viewers must stay tuned on their small screens to watch what ntate Jerry is going to do at Ebumnyameni,” he said.

Jerry mentioned that not much has changed from his character on Emzini Wezinsizwa.

“Acting is acting. I’m also grateful that Smoke & Mirrors gave me a different character to showcase my acting talent.

“Many, when they see me, think about Mofokeng and think that I can only play that character. No, I’m a versatile actor and play all characters,” he said.

The actor said that the character, Mofokeng, was his first role and it gave him a breakthrough in the acting industry.

Jerry mentioned that he’s still available for acting gigs because acting is a part of his life, and he will continue doing it as long as he can.
