Snl24 | AKA and Tibz ‘killers’ back in court

THE bail application hearing for the suspects linked to the murders of AKA and Tibz is expected to continue on Monday, 18 March.

The hearing will take place in the Durban Magistrates Court.

The five suspects, Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi (30), Lindelani Ndimade (30), Siyanda Myeza (22), Mziwethemba Gwabeni (36) and Lindokuhle Ndimande (29) are linked to the murders of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.

They face charges of murder, attempted murder, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and money laundering.

Accused number one, Mkhwanazi and accused number three, Myeza made their bail applications through their representatives, while the other suspects are expected to make their bail applications on Monday.

During the previous appearance, Advocate Simphiwe Mlotshwa read the affidavit on behalf of accused number one which stated that Mkhwanazi pleads not guilty to the charges leveled against him.

“He has no previous conviction, but is out on R5 000 bail on charges of conspiracy to commit murder, murder, illegal firearm and ammunition,” he said.

He said Mkhwanazi is from Mtubatuna, north of KZN where he lives with his parents, sisters and wife and the address has been verified.

“Mkhwanazi is married to Hlengiwe Nyathi, who is pregnant with their first child. They were married in June 2023. His wife is a qualified teacher,” he said.

Mlotshwa said Mkhwanazi owns two taxis under the Dukuduku Taxi Association.

“He makes R40 000 a month from the two taxis. His father helped him by getting a loan for him in order to start the taxi business,” he said.

He said Mkhwanazi also wants to be released so that he can be present when his wife gives birth to their child.

Accused number three’s affidavit was also read by his representative, Yolanda Gielink. She said Myeza is unemployed, has three minor kids and lives in Umlazi.

“He once worked at a local shisa nyama. But when he was arrested, he was unemployed and was searching for a job,” she said.

AKA’s father, Tony Forbes, was present for the first day of application, Thursday, 14 March.
