Snl24 | All hell breaks loose after prophet’s ‘prophecy’

Residents from Riba Cross torched the house and tavern of a man implicated in the murder of a missing girl by a traditional healer.

THE community of Riba Cross in Burgersfort, Limpopo went on a rampage on Sunday, 18 August, looting a local tavern and torching a business owner’s house.

This after a video emerged on social media, where controversial traditional healer, Dr Prophet Tshepo from Marble Hall revealed he knew who killed a teenage girl, Khomotso Matenchi, who has been missing.

In the video, Prophet Tshepo, is seen revealing to Khomotso’s uncle that his niece is no more. He even mentioned the names of the people who allegedly killed her and also claimed that Khomotso’s body parts and blood were used to strengthen a tavern in Riba Cross.

“Your niece was killed at a tavern. There’s a man called Noah who is now arrested. He was there during the murder. Khomotso screamed seven times during her attack before she went completely silent.

“Her body parts and blood were used to strengthen a tavern in Riba Cross belonging to a man called Matenche. Go ask Matenche if he has ever seen Khomotso. If you’re afraid of him, tell him I sent you to ask him if he has seen Khomotso,” prophesied Prophet Tshepo.

In the video, Kgomotso’s uncle is seen admitting to knowing Noah and a local business owner.

Resident Nape Nchabeleng (47) said they believe the prophecy.

“We don’t have any reason not to believe Dr Prophet Tshepo. He helped a lot of people. It’s been four years now without any sign of Khomotso. We believe him and we want the police to arrest everyone implicated in this murder so that the family can find closure.”

However, the Limpopo House of Traditional Leaders condemned the incident.

“We learnt about this incident on the socials. We’re shocked and appalled at how the traditional healer has handled this matter. Two wrongs don’t make a right. We believe traditional healers are leaders and therefore are supposed to lead by example and avoid any practices that could result in public violence and mass destruction,” read a statement from the association.

According to police reports, Khomotso (17) went missing in 2018. The police have since arrested two suspects.

Limpopo police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said: “Two male suspects aged 43 and 45 were apprehended on the spot. A case of public violence business robbery and arson were opened.”
