Snl24 | Chiefs pair set to make way

Two players are expected to free up two foreign spots at Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the season.

Kaizer Chiefs’ foreign quota looks to be reshuffled yet again at the end of the season with two players earmarked to make way.

While there remains a sizeable portion of the season to play, it is understood that the writing is already on the wall for Colombian striker Efmamjjasond Gonzalez and Mozambican defender Edmilson Dove.

Gonzalez is yet to score in the 10 games that he has played since being signed from Bolivian club Real Santa Cruz.

The big striker hasn’t looked a part worthy of being brought to Chiefs all the way from South America.

What will be of relief to Chiefs is that the 24-year-old came on loan and will be returning to his parent club.

Then for Dove, his contract expires at the end of June and as it stands there has been no commitment to extend from Chiefs.

The 29-year-old is already within his rights to consider other options after a disappointing showing at the AFCON finals with Mozambique.

Amakhosi have already signed a younger central defence option in Luke Fleurs, and they also have another left-footed centre back Aiden McCarthy in the squad.

Dove has played 10 games for Chiefs this season and is in his second year at the club.

With Gonzalez and Dove out, Chiefs will then have two foreign spots open for the new season.

The other three foreign spots will be taken by Edson Castillo (Venezuela), Thatayaone Ditlhokwe (Botswana), and Christian Saile Basomboli (DR Congo) though he still needs to up his game.
