Kaizer Chiefs defender Edmilson Dove has shed some insight into Amakhosi’ progress and training regime during their pre-season training camp in Turkey.

Chiefs left South African shores last week to conduct their pre-season preparations in Turkey where they also met up with new head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Since Sunday, the squad has been put through their pace by Nabi and the all-technical team, with goalkeeper Brandon Petersen admitting that the sessions were ‘a bit different’ to what he’d been used to during his previous pre-season camps with Chiefs.

Speaking to the club’s media on Friday, centre-back Dove shed more insight into the squads’ training so far.

“It’s not easy, especially for the guys that have been on holiday but day by day we are getting better and I’m hoping by the start of the season we are all ready to kick it in,” the Mozambique national team captain said.

“Yesterday we had three sessions, one at seven, in which we had to run in the mountains, then we had a gym session and we had a field session in the afternoon

“But overall it’s been good. Just to see that energy, especially in the morning the gens singing and just running. It shows the mood at camp and so it’s been quite good.

“We are in a space where we only focus on football and try to get all the elements that are needed for when the season starts.

“All the tactics and the technical side of it and obviously we have a new technical team so we are trying to get the philosophy of what he wants. Every coach is different and has different philosophies of what they want.

“I think as gents it’s up to us as players to assimilate everything they give us and make it work on the field and we hope that as a collective we can get everything we need for the start of the season.

Chiefs will play several friendly matches in Turkey before returning to South Africa where they will host Tanzania champions Young Africans in the Toyota Cup.

“It’s really good to be at a place like this where we can get to play friendlies with high-quality players and teams of high calibre which is going to be a good test for us as a collective to know where we stand,” Dove added.
