Former Banyana Banyana player Portia Modise was hijacked on Saturday, 6 July.
FORMER Banyana Banyana star Portia Modise says she still can’t believe she was hijacked on Saturday, 6 July and wishes it was just a nightmare.
Portia said even though she’s happy to be alive, she is traumatised and shocked by how easy it is to lose something that belongs to you. She said she didn’t get her car back, but some people claimed they found it.
The 41-year-old from White City in Soweto told Daily Sun she received several calls from various people claiming they found her Volkswagen Golf, but she believes they’re trying to scam her as they wanted money from her.
“There are people who are calling me saying they found my car. This is too much already for me. I’m stressing about my lost car and people are taking advantage of me. We are not safe in our own homes and streets these days,” she said.
Portia said she still hopes to get her car back.

“I hope my car will be found and in good condition. Those young people just took my car like that,” she said.
Portia said she wishes for a better and safer country and communities.
“We deserve to be safe. We can’t lose our belongings to criminals just like that,” she said.
The soccer legend said she’s happy the police are helping to look for her car.
Gauteng police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo said cops are still searching for the suspects.Â
