Ernest Msibi, who said he feels cancelled by the entertainment industry.

HE was known as Chester on Yizo Yizo.

The once celebrated actor, Ernest Msibi, now feels cancelled by the entertainment industry.

The 52-year-old from Soweto has revealed to Daily Sun that he’s struggling to secure acting jobs.

“I don’t know what is happening. I go to the auditions, but I don’t get callbacks. I don’t know why I’m being sidelined like this. People are still celebrating me when they see me. But it’s hard now in this industry. Maybe people want to talk good things about me when I’m dead, but they’re failing to help me now that I’m still alive,” said Ernest.

Daily Sun has learnt that the hunger for acting has forced Ernest to be active in politics.

It’s alleged that he’s in Mpumalanga where he’s working in the uMkhonto Wesizwe (MK) party structures. But the actor claimed that he went to Mpumalanga to help there, saying that he can never dump the acting industry for anything, including politics.

“I have acting projects that I invented but I’m still looking for funding. I also visit schools to motivate using comedy. I hope that I will get the funding. That won’t only help me, but others whose doors have been closed on them. The situation is sad and painful,” he said.

After Yizo Yizo, Ernest acted on Zone 14, where he played the character of Vuvu.

He then joined Uzalo where he played notorious Amos. His role was suspended, and he went to play Mohato in Gomora before he returned to Uzalo after Gomora allegedly fired him.

After that, he disappeared from the small screen. Ernest said he hasn’t lost hope; he believes that something will come up soon.

“I’m not going to give up. Acting is my talent, and I won’t give up on it. I believe that doors are still going to open,” he said.
