Snl24 | Insider: Why Chiefs Can’t Sign Former Sundowns Player Now

Kaizer Chiefs may have to wait until the end of the season to bag one of their transfer targets, the Siya crew has been informed on January Transfer Deadline day.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Amakhosi could be interested in Sekhukhune United’s former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sthembiso Mkhize.

Siya sources have now indicated that the two clubs may have reached an agreement to finalise this matter at the end of the season.

The sources have added that Sekhukhune need significant time to find a replacement for Mkhize, and this could be the reason why the deal can’t happen now.

“They are still talking and now they have almost agreed that the deal should happen at the end of the season as the time was too short to finalise a deal now,” said the Siya source.

“There are just some issues that both clubs need to look into before finalising everything and that’s why they have agreed that it should be concluded at the end of the season,” the source told Soccer Laduma.

Meanwhile, a second Siya source also noted how Sekhukhune may have to look for a replacement first before they can potentially let Mkhize leave.

“They got the player this season because they needed him. He has shown the importance of having him in the team and now they don’t want to lose him again in a short space of time while they don’t have someone to play that role. They signed him for a reason and unless they find the replacement they need then they will wait until the end of the season to talk about the deal again. That’s what is holding everything up right now,” the source observed.
