Joyous Celebration bends its own rule.

GOSPEL powerhouse, Joyous Celebration, has broken its own rule.

The group had set rules to perform only during their own shows. However, it had to bend this rule to honour an invitation to the Mayine Crossover Gospel Experience.

The show recently launched in Durban.

The gospel sensation’s co-founder Lindelani Mkhize said show organisers convinced the group to bend the rule.

“We had decided a long time ago that we would only perform at our own shows. We did not make this decision out of arrogance, but as the biggest gospel group in Mzansi, we are busy.

“So, it wouldn’t be nice if we accepted a booking only to find that we can’t honour it due to our busy schedule. However, organisers of the Mayine Crossover Gospel Experience convinced us. They made us see the need to be there,” said Lindelani.

Although the show will be on New Year’s Eve at the Durban Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (ICC), organisers have already started preparing, and tickets are already on sale.

Lindelani said the group will return to its initial rule after the show.

Organiser, Sbongiseni Mbambo, said they had to “bow down and beg Joyous Celebration to be part of the show”.

“We are glad they finally agreed. We knew of their rules but needed them on the show,” said Sbongiseni.

He said the show is an appreciation to God for saving them throughout the year and begging Him for protection.

The show will also be graced by other top gospel artists such as Xoli Mncwango, Dumi Mkokstad, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Ayanda Ntanzi, and Mpumi Mtsweni among others.
