Snl24 | Khune Unfazed: Chiefs Star Finally Breaks Silence

Itumeleng Khune, the Amakhosi legend whose name still echoes through Naturena halls despite his recent struggles, stands tall amidst criticism. Reports of disciplinary issues may have painted a turbulent picture, but Khune refuses to be a passive passenger in his own story.

Instead, he paints himself as a fighter working his way back, a 24-hour pro fueled by the fire of determination.

ā€œIā€™m doing well, I think everyone has seen that that Iā€™ve been keeping fit. Iā€™ve been training very hard because as a 24-hour pro you canā€™t relax at any given time,ā€ Khune told local media.

The 36-year-old veteran, though often sidelined in the past two seasons, refuses to let inactivity dim his inner flame.

And the fans? They stand behind him, a loyal army who voted him into the Carling All-Star XI, ready to clash with Stellenbosch FC on Saturday. This, for Khune, is more than just a match; it’s a testament to the unbreakable bond between player and supporter.

ā€œYou never know where your destiny is. When they (Carling) opened the polls for the fans to start voting and I saw my name there, I told myself that in whatever that I am going through, itā€™s a blessing in disguise,ā€ Khune said.

He pauses, his words, heavy with the weight of experience.Ā

ā€œI just had to stay ready for anything that comes my way. Iā€™m happy that I have managed to carry that through over the years, that I will have that never-say-die spirit and nothing will discourage me but Iā€™m happy that Iā€™ve been keeping fit and Iā€™m happy to be here,ā€ he concluded.

Khune, the Bafana Bafana icon, may have had only a few appearances to his name this season, the last a bittersweet Soweto derby loss against Orlando Pirates in November. But the All-Star stage awaits, a platform to silence the doubters and reignite his campaign.
