Imfezemnyama standing behind Ntombeziningi in the picture that landed him in trouble.
TOP maskandi musician Imfezemnyama, whose real name is Phumlani Khumalo from Nquthu, recently faced backlash from his fans.
This is after a publicity stunt intended to promote his new single with fellow musician Ntombeziningi backfired.
The stunt involved a photoshoot where Imfezemnyama pretended to be in a same-sex relationship with Ntombeziningi, a well-known gay figure.
This act led to a significant number of his fans distancing themselves, believing he was gay.

Imfezemnyama told Daily Sun: “We wanted to catch people’s attention with something different as we were about to release our song. However, the reaction was overwhelmingly negative, and I had to clarify that I am not gay and am engaged to a woman,”
Despite the controversy, Imfezemnyama emphasized his support for the LGBTQ+ community, stating he has no issues with gay people.
On the other hand, Ntombeziningi, real name Sabelo Sithole from uMnambithi, revealed that they are still dating, understanding why Imfezemnyama denied their relationship due to the conservative views of maskandi fans.
Ntombeziningi, also a Ukhozi FM contributor and socialite, expressed his resilience in facing prejudice.
“Many fans insult us because they are uneducated about same-sex relationships. It’s our role to educate them.”
Despite Ntombeziningi’s claims, Imfezemnyama reiterated that they have never been romantically involved but remain good friends.
