Snl24 | Man Utd ‘receive’ club-record bid for Greenwood
Getafe are said to have made a club-record bid in an attempt to retain the services of Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood.
Manchester United have now reportedly received a club-record bid for controversial star Mason Greenwood.Â
The 22-year-old has made a noteworthy impression in LALIGA after joining Getafe on loan in September, with various Spanish clubs said to be interested in acquiring the one-time England international’s services.Â

Greenwood has thus far bagged five goals and four assists in 15 appearances for his new side, helping them to eighth place on the league table.Â
His performances have reportedly grabbed the attention of other LALIGA teams, including Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Getafe, however, are seemingly keen on keeping hold of their new-found star.
According to The Sun, a £40 million (R951 million) bid has been made to United by Geta Azulones in order to secure a permanent move for Greenwood.
As things stand, the Spanish club’s most expensive signing in their history is fullback Marc Cucurella, when he joined them from Barcelona in 2020 for a fee of £10.2 million (R242 million) ahead of future moves to Brighton & Hove Albion and then Chelsea.Â
Getafe’s willingness to break the bank for Greenwood is said to be an indicator of how adamant they are about making his stay in Madrid a permanent one.Â
However, it is understood that the Red Devils have rejected this offer from the Spanish club.
Reports suggest that Geta Azulones could face competition from city rivals Los Blancos for the 22-year-old’s signature.
It is claimed the 14-time UEFA Champions League winners are interested in the attacker, but are unlikely to table a bid until the end of the current season.
After charges of assault and attempted rape against Greenwood were dropped in February this year, United decided to allow him to try and relaunch his career away from Old Trafford.

However, under the sporting leadership of new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, it is believed the forward could yet find himself being reintegrated into the first team set-up when his time in the Spanish capital comes to an end, especially considering the recent troubles the Red Devils have had in front of goal.Â
