Bafana Bafana midfielder Teboho Mokoena has been one of the stand out performers at the Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast so far.
The Mamelodi Sundowns star capped off a great game against Morocco with a superbly executed free-kick late in the last 16 round game that made sure Bafana won 2-0.

Siya sources close to the player and Sundowns have indicated that Ligue 1 club AS Monaco and an unnamed Premier League club from England have both inquired about the former SuperSport United midfielder.
The source added that the Premier League team have stepped in due to Mokoena’s performances at Afcon and that Monaco were already monitoring him in advance.
“The interest in Teboho (Mokoena) has been growing since he joined Sundowns. What I know is that the Monaco’s interest has been there for a while now. They first inquired about (Cassius) Mailula but when they could not get him they then inquired about Teboho,” said the Siya source.
“Now they have renewed that interest. However there is another inquiry, this is from an English Premiership club that we can’t mention at the moment. There are very few people who know about it. They are a good club as well. Some of the things are not done by the Sporting Director but by the agent so it’s a tricky situation but the interest is there from those two clubs. One from England and another from France,” the source revealed.
A second Siya source discussed how it would not be as easy as one might think for a European club to prize Mokoena from Sundowns.

“As much as the inquiries and interest are there, you should not forget that it also involves money as it’s a business. Teboho has a contract with Sundowns and he is still their player. It’s them who would decide on whether he leaves or not and how much it could cost the interested team.
“There was a team from Belgium before who inquired about him but their offer was too low. So the money will also determine whether he goes to England or France or even stays at Sundowns for now.
“Let’s wait because the window period is closed. This could only happen at the end of the season as it were now,” the second source told Soccer Laduma.
The player’s agent Glyn Binkin could neither deny nor confirm the interest but underlined that at the moment Mokoena’s focus is on helping Bafana move on from the Afcon quarter-finals where they face Cape Verde on Saturday.
“I’m not commenting on any specific speculation suffice to say there has been lots of interest in the player and for now he is focused only on helping Bafana’s quest for success,” Binkin, the former Bafana Bafana team manager told the Siya crew exclusively.
27-year-old Mokoena had joined the Brazilians in 2022 with a contract that lasts until June 2025 but there is also an option for a year’s extension with the club.
This season so far, he has played most of the Sundowns’ league fixtures and is the reigning PSL Player of the Year, and Midfielder of the Season.Â
