TWO Lesotho nationals are facing charges of rape and murder.
The suspects aged 29 and 31 are expected to appear before the Pretoria North Magistrates Court today on Monday, 1 July.
This after the body of Lebogang Yumba (49) was found at Buntu-In Orchards section 110, west of Pretoria on Sunday, 7 April.
They were arrested on April 19 for unauthorised immigration. The arrest was made possible due to neighbours’ cooperation with law enforcement, which helped them create a lead connected to the heinous murder.
Their bail application was scheduled for Monday, April 29. However, the case was postponed as they were also charged with the rape and murder of 49-year-old Lebogang Yumba, and they abandoned their bail application.

Nighbour Kgotso Manganye (31) told Daily Sun that when an elderly man who lived next to the field where the tragedy occurred saw the deceased’s headscarf with blood stains, he looked further and saw a trail of blood that led to the unresponsive, shockingly naked woman lying in the bushes.
She said that although a whistle was blown to alert other residents to the emergency, it was too late to save Yumba.
“We all gathered after the police arrived with paramedics who pronounced the victim dead, and forensic pathologists subsequently arrived and retrieved the body,” Manganye said, emphasising the community’s critical role in the investigation that led to the police’s arrests.
