Snl24 | Pirates Lose Top Spot After Loss To Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates missed the chance to reclaim top spot in the DStv Diski Challenge after losing 1-0 to ten-man Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday afternoon at Giant Stadium.

After a goalless first stanza, Sundowns were reduced to ten men ten minutes from the break after Nkonxeni Mzwekhaya was red-carded for a reckless challenge on Pirates captain Kwadi Malepo.

The Brazilians, though, had the better chances in the closing stages but were not clinical and also the Buccaneers goalkeeper Zoey Monyepao was on top of his game.

However, Onele Ruleana finally snatched the winner for Sinethemba Badela’s charges deep in stoppage time after a mistake at the back by the Sea Robbers.

Masandawana levelled up with Pirates on 35 points but remained in third spot with an inferior goal difference to Joseph Makhanya’s troops, who also remained second, one point behind leaders Stellenbosch.

AmaZulu 1-1 Sekhukhune United

AmaZulu halted a nine-game losing streak after playing to a 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United on Sunday afternoon at Giant Stadium.

Gift Ngobeni gave Sekhukhune the lead within the first two minutes after he dribbled past two defenders and slotted a shot past goalkeeper Carlo Ally.

However, Yanda Mjoli equalised for Usuthu on the stroke of half-time after he was set up by Siphamandla Zikhali.

Royal AM 3-0 Polokwane City

Royal AM won for the first time in four matches after thrashing Polokwane City 3-0 on Sunday morning at Harry Gwala Stadium.

The win took Thwihli Thwahla up to 11th on the table with 22 points while Rise and Shine remained at the bottom of the log.

SuperSport United 1-0 Kaizer Chiefs

TS Galaxy 0-0 Stellenbosch
