A man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly murdering his son.

This comes after he allegedly poisoned his son (2).
According to the police the dad allegedly went to his girlfriend’s (27) home in Kanana near Klerksdorp on Friday night, 30 August 2024, and demanded to be given his three kids, aged eight, four, and two.
“On Saturday morning, 31 August 2024, the girlfriend eventually consented on condition that her brother accompanies the kid. However, on arrival at his place, the boyfriend instructed the kids uncle to go back home. The uncle left with the four-year-old, leaving behind the two boys, aged two and eight,” said Police spokeswoman Lieutenant-Colonel Amanda Funani.

He further stated that the children’s mum received a call from the boyfriend on Saturday, 31 August 2024, informing her that he was about to do something.
“The mum then called the children’s gogo, who informed her that they were on the way to the hospital after the suspect allegedly poisoned himself and the two children.”
Funani said it was later discovered that the eight-year-old child was not affected as he did not swallow what the father gave him.
“The two-year-old died in hospital and the father was arrested on Thursday, 5 September 2024, after being released from the hospital,” said Funani.
The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Sello Kwena, condemned the incident and said that the child died in the hands of his father, who was supposed to be his protector.
“I applaud the Stilfontein Detectives for the prompt investigation that resulted in the arrest,” he said.
He expected to appear at the Stilfontein Magistrates Court on Monday, 9 September.
