Polokwane City’s Chief Operations Officer, Tincy Tema, has responded to the latest reports linking Bafana Bafana star Oswin Appollis with Kaizer Chiefs.

Tema told the Siya crew that there is no official offer yet from Amakhosi for the South Africa player.

“They haven’t put in an offer,” Tema told Soccer Laduma.

Transfer developments increased not long after Appollis had scored two goals for Bafana against South Sudan in a 3-2 victory in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday.

Despite Tema stating there hasn’t been an official offer yet, Siya sources have indicated that there are promising signs of progress in Chiefs’ pursuit of Appollis.

After failing to land the signatures of both Elias Mokwana and Khanyisa Mayo, Siya sources added that the race for Appolllis is believed to be drawing to a close, pending the tying of a few loose ends.

“It looks positive at the moment. Things are moving in the right direction as far as the signing of Appollis is concerned. It is believed they are ready to pay Polokwane City R10 million for the transfer of the player,” said the Siya source.

“We can’t say it’s a done deal yet but it’s really promising now. Chiefs are not announcing all their new players yet because they are waiting to have all of the new players when they do an official announcement for this season,” the source added.

A second source close to the clubs, stated that despite the fact that there was interest from North Africa, and that Polokwane City would have been happy for their player to move abroad, Chiefs are now ahead of the race.

“There was interest from both Tunisia and Morocco but nothing has come out of that and the team would consider Kaizer Chiefs’ offer at this time as they have the chance to cash in on the player,” said the second Siya source.

“Each and every day the move looks more positive and likely. It looks really promising for Chiefs to get Oswin (Appollis), now than ever before,” the second source added.

Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.

Amakhosi Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr did speak to Robert Marawa on Radio 947, discussing that there has been talks to sign Appollis, despite other local media reporting that no talks have taken place.

“What I can say about Appollis is I don’t know any club in the country who wouldn’t want to sign Oswin. What we’re trying to do as best we can is not only to fulfill what the supporters want,” Motaung told Radio 947.

“We know we need to get the best talent to achieve our goals. What I can say is he’s a top player and we’re working tirelessly to bring top players to the team.”

“We’d love to have him, we’ve had talks with the chairman of Polokwane City, not only about Oswin, other players also. It’s a process that’s ongoing,” he said.

Despite this, the Siya crew understands that there has been no official offer yet, so it remains to be seen if the reported R10 million could be the price that settles a deal for Oppollis.
