A DOUBLE murder case has been opened at Thembisa Police Station in Ekurhuleni following the discovery of two unknown men who were burnt to death.
It’s alleged that they died as a result of a mob attack by the community in Winnie Mandela zone 11, Thembisa on Tuesday, 2 July.Ā
Even though firefighters were called to help the burning men, they succumbed to their injuries and were declared dead on the scene.

It’s alleged that an unknown woman was robbed of her cellphone by the two suspects. She reportedly screamed for help and community members rushed to help her. The residents then caught the two suspects and allegedly assaulted them with big rocks before setting them on fire.
When Daily Sun arrived at the scene, no one was prepared to talk about what really happened.

But a community member (37), who was not far from the scene, said: āI wasn’t there, and I don’t know what happened, but I don’t feel sorry for them. The thugs have us living in fear. I don’t blame the community for taking the law into their own hands because crime is getting out of hand in Thembisa.ā
Ekurhuleni district police spokeswoman Captain Neldah Sekgobela condemned mob attacks.
She urged the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands as it is unlawful. āA double murder case has been registered with the police after the incident. Investigations continue,ā she said.
