JOYCE Mofokeng fears that her house, which has a rusty zinc roof, might collapse one day.Â
The 59-year-old woman from Phadima section in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni, told Daily Sun on Thursday, 18 July, that she’s in dire need of assistance to escape from the rusty zinc which can fall inside her house.Â
“The situation is bad. Every night I pray to God to send Good Samaritans to help me.Â
“When you are inside the house, you can see through the holes in the roof zinc,” said Joyce.Â
She said she feared that the depilated house might collapse.Â
“I’m unemployed, and it’s tough for me when it’s winter. The house is freezing. In summer, the house will be flooded because of the hole in the roof.Â
“This house has become a life-threatening hazard,” said Joyce.Â

She said residents came to assess the house and hopes they will get help for her.Â
“I know many people are unemployed, but I’m praying that Good Samaritans could come forward and help.”Â
Chief Abram Hlumbane from the Manala Mgibe Tradition Council in Ekurhuleni said they visited Joyce.Â
“The condition of her house is in a bad state. We have contacted the community leaders, including a ward councillor. We hope we can get help for her, ” said Hlumbane.Â
