Social Media Account Allegedly Belonging To Lil Durk’s Son Reacts To Chicago Mayor Showing Support For His Dad
The Mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, had the opportunity to distance himself from Lil Durk during a press conference, and didn’t. When asked for a reaction to Durk’s charges for a murder-for-fire plot on Quando Rondo, Mayor Johnson opted to zone in on the work the rapper has done in his hometown. Since then, a social media account reportedly belonging to Lil Durk’s son, Zayden Banks, has shared a message thanking the mayor for his neutral support.

As previously reported, Durk made his first court appearance on Friday (Oct. 25) in Miami federal court. His charges are in connection to conspiracy to use interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire that resulted in death. His dad declined to talk to the press outside of the courtroom afterward. Pre-trial detention will be discussed at the next unscheduled hearing in California, but transfer dates are unclear at this point.

This Is What An Account Tied To Lil Durk’s Son Posted
As mentioned, the Mayor of Chicago made his comments during a conference last Friday, per NBC Chicago.
“I don’t know all the circumstances and details around these accusations. What I do know though is Lil Durk’s mission to build financial literacy for children across the city and making other critical investments for the children of this city is where his heart has been and it’s no secret to the trauma that he grew up in and how he has worked to turn that trauma into opportunities for other people,” the mayor said.
Two of the city’s biggest newspapers, the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times, have published drag pieces of Johnson, suggesting that he could really help the youth by donating the $150,000 Durk gifted his campaign in June 2023, per the Tribune. At that time, it had been less than a year since he allegedly ordered the murder of Quando, born Tyquian Terrel.
Meanwhile, the Instagram account allegedly belonging to Zayden Banks thanked the mayor for his words. The post itself was the video of the mayor, but the caption doubled down on the mayor’s words. Lil Durk’s son started the caption by saying he wants to “stand up” for his dad Durk Banks.
“He has always dedicated his life to uplifting others and giving back to our community through his nonprofit organization, Neighborhood Heroes. Beyond that, he is a great father who has always supported and loved our family unconditionally. Right now, he is facing challenges, but I want to affirm that he has not been convicted of any charges and remains innocent until proven otherwise. During this difficult time, I ask for your support for him and all the good he continues to do.”
The caption ended by directly thanking Brandon Johnson for “standing up” with his dad. The mayor said, “His speech was well said and truly reflects the community’s support for those who strive to make a positive impact. “
