Manon Fiorot put further emphasis on her case for a title shot when she defeated Erin Blanchfield in Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 54 headliner.
Fiorot (12-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) kept her undefeated octagon run in tact and made a case to challenger the winner of Alexa Grasso vs. Valentina Shevchenko 3 with a unanimous decision win over Blanchfield (12-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC) in the women’s flyweight main event at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.

10-9 Fiorot
She is picking Blanchfield off at distance for the most part.
Blanchfield needs to get in close at all costs.

Horrible gameplan from Blanchfield – did she train for Fiorot or watch any tape? #UFCAtlanticCity

Well, Blanchfield’s striking has not developed much sadly

Blanchfield needs to set up her combos if she’s going to close the range on Fiorot or just commit to the blitz, knowing she’s going to have to take a couple of hits to overwhelm Manon to get on the inside #UFCAtlanticCity

I’m starting to wonder how Blanchfield is supposed to win this

This fight is reinforcing that the strongest style in all of MMA is just being a big ol’ hoss of a human.

Erin is too tough for her own good. Just wading in with aimless shots and eating heavy knuckle sandwiches damn near every time is not going to win her this fight. #UFCAtlanticCity

Blanchfield decided that nothing is quite working so it’s time to just rush in and fight…respect.

Manon Fiorot should get the win here and become the No. 1 contender.
With Alexa Grasso vs. Valentina Shevchenko 3 not likely until September, it’s tough to say if Fiorot should just sit and wait because she may not fight again until 2025.#UFCAtlanticCity

Big win for Fiorot.. patient, methodical approach which is to be expected from her – counterstriking and range control on point..
Blanchfield had some moments late in the fights, but it just wasn’t enough in the end..
Fiorot the #1 contender now #UFCAtlanticCity
