Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds’ Customisation Puts Other Kart Racers to Shame
More than 70,000 permutations
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will have much more depth than the average kart racer.
SEGAâs released a trailer for upcoming racer today which shows the sheer amount of customisation on offer in the upcoming release.
Pivotal to it all is the gadgets system, which will allow you to put your fingerprints all over your own personal play style. For example, youâll be able to mix and match gadgets which give you a boost when you perform tricks in the air â or reward you handsomely when you hit another opponent.
There are over 70 gadgets in the final game, and youâll be able to pair these with different car components too. These will alter your top speed, acceleration, and more. Ultimately, youâll have complete control over how you want to play.
Now this does all naturally raise balance concerns, but weâd like to think the developerâs thought carefully about that. Itâs claiming there are over 70,000 possible combinations in the final game.
Hereâs the publisherâs official blurb:
âWith over 40+ vehicles, 70+ gadgets, and 100+ vehicle parts and decals, there are thousands of combinations available for players to customize the ultimate racing machine. Players can mix and match racers and vehicles, vehicle parts, and gadgets to create a customized racing experience suited to their gameplay style.â
If youâre more interested in aesthetics, then decals will also allow you to give your vehicles a unique look. Judging by the trailer it looks like thereâll be different horns and boost trails you can unlock, too.
Pre-orders will come with the werehog pack, while those who sign up for a SEGA account can also nab the Blue Star Extreme Gear, inspired by PS2 game Sonic Riders.
The gameâs due out on 25th September, on both PS5 and PS4.
