‘Sorry Eddie’ – Dana White shuts down claim that Eddie Hearn boxing event could beat UFC to be first fight at stunning Sphere arena

Dana White has dismissed reports that Eddie Hearn could beat him to host the first combat sports event at the Sphere.

Reports in Ireland earlier this week claimed the massive women’s boxing rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano is now in advanced talks and may finally take place in June.

He has already booked the venue for this year’s Mexican Independence day UFC show and has promised ‘the greatest live combat sports show anybody’s ever seen’.

This is not until September though, so Taylor vs Serrano 2 could hypothetically jump in beforehand and beat the UFC to becoming the first combat sports event at the Sphere.

According to White though, that ‘ain’t happening’.

Sin City’s brand new $2.3billion venue opened late last year.

Standing at 366ft tall and 516ft wide, the astonishing structure is a remarkable new addition to Vegas’ famous skyline.

The Sphere has a capacity of 18,600 and can be used for a variety of different purposes.

It boasts the world’s largest LED screen on its exterior, which has already produced a series of stunning displays.

While initially budgeted at $1.2billion, construction costs were inflated by the pandemic and ultimately rose to $2.3billion.

Music acts are the main use of the venue.
