Soul Coughing’s reunion tour, their first North American tour in 25 years, upgrades to larger venues in several cities due to fan demand.Nineties darlings Soul Coughing are reuniting for their first North American tour in 25 years — and in some cities, they needed to secure a larger venue. After starting off with a 17-date trek across the United States, the band’s shows in Chicago, Boston, and Philadelphia have moved to larger venues to accommodate the fan demand, as well as an additional show in San Diego.
The four members of Soul Coughing have repeatedly told audiences, fans, and journalists that they have no intention of reuniting. But never say never, because all four original members will take the stage this fall for the 30th anniversary of their debut album, the genre-defining Ruby Vroom.
Mike Doughty, Mark Degli Antoni, Sebastian Steinberg, and Yuval Gabay will hit San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Denver, Boulder, Minneapolis, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, Boston, and Philadelphia, beginning in September. Currently, the tour is set to conclude with a two-night stand in Brooklyn at the start of October.
Each performance will feature songs from the band’s catalog — El Oso, Irresistible Bliss, and their smash debut album Ruby Vroom, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this fall.

Over their eight-year history, the band merged drum and bass, trance, rock and roll, and hip-hop to create its own unique strain of music.
“Our music didn’t fit into the landscape then and it doesn’t now,” said Doughty. “We were super incorrect. We were messy. We were all over the place. There were moments in our career where we tried to be less different, and we always failed. And thank God for that.”
