South Alabama Football Player Dismissed Following Arrest on Domestic Violence Charge
University of South Alabama defensive lineman Lamondre Brooks is no longer part of the football program following his recent arrest on a domestic violence charge.
According to Metro Jail records, the 22-year-old was booked and charged with third-degree domestic violence. Court documents state that on May 21, Brooks allegedly grabbed his girlfriend by the arms and shoved her as she attempted to leave the situation.
In response to the incident, South Alabama Athletics released a statement confirming Brooks’ dismissal:
“South Alabama Athletics is aware of the arrest of former student-athlete Lamondre Brooks. The University of South Alabama takes all legal matters seriously. Mr. Brooks has been dismissed from the football team. There will be no further comment at this time.”
Originally from Birmingham, Brooks joined the Jaguars in 2021 and had been with the team for three seasons. He was released from custody after posting a $1,000 bond.
Brooks is scheduled to appear in court on June 6.
