South Carolina vs. Texas live score, updates, highlights from 2025 Women’s Final Four game
The Final Four is here. Now, two of the most dominant teams in the 2024-25 women’s college basketball season will go head-to-head.
On Friday night, the defending champion, No. 1 South Carolina, will take on No. 1 Texas with a trip to the national title game on the line. Dawn Staley’s squad, which has won three of the last seven NCAA Tournament titles, has pushed its 2024 title defense into the final weekend of the season. But the Gamecocks may be due for their toughest challenge yet.Â
The Longhorns, 35-3 this season, have had no March Madness issues thus far after earning one of the bracket’s No. 1 seeds, defeating William & Mary, Illinois, Tennessee and TCU. Texas now gets another shot against its SEC foe, which is responsible for two of the Longhorns’ three losses in 2024-25.

On Jan. 12 and Mar. 9, the Gamecocks got the best of Vic Schaefer’s unit. But on Feb. 9, the Longhorns squeaked by South Carolina â and with the stakes now raised, they’re hopeful for some further revenge. Texas is led by sophomore forward Madison Booker (16.5 points per game), with senior forward Taylor Jones (12.1 points per game) also playing a significant role.
However, South Carolina has shown no signs of slowing down. The dynastic run Staley’s been on with the Gamecocks has translated to the 2024-25 season, racking up a 34-3 record â but interestingly, their three losses have come against the remaining Final Four teams. Freshman forward Joyce Edwards (12.7 points per game), sophomore guard MiLaysia Fulwiley (11.9 points per game) and junior forward Chloe Kitts (10.4 points per game) have paved the way for Staley’s unit this season.Â
