Spurs star expected to leave cub this summer
Tottenham Hotspur aren’t in action this weekend as their game against Chelsea was postponed due to their participation in the Carabao Cup final.Â
The Blues had been due to host their fierce rivals in the Premier League this weekend, but they will instead face Liverpool at Wembley.
Spurs have been impressive yet inconsistent so far this term; having topped the table after ten games, Ange Postecoglou’s side have since struggled and currently sit fourth in the top flight table.
The Australian will nonetheless be relatively pleased with his side’s campaign so far, as the Lilywhites remain firmly in contention to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Off the pitch, though, it appears that one of their most experienced players is set to depart.
Hojbjerg is expected to depart Tottenham this summer
As per Football Insider, midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg isn’t expected to remain at Spurs beyond this summer.
The report claims that those in charge of the North London club expect the Dane to depart the club at the end of the current season.
Hojbjerg, 28, joined Spurs from Southampton in 2020 and has since made more than 170 appearances for the club across all competitions.
This season the midfielder has played 27 times, although he has only started six Premier League games.
The Denmark international was heavily linked with a move to german champions Bayern Munich last summer and was also the subject of interest from other clubs during the recent January transfer window, but Spurs were reluctant to allow him to leave on loan.
Despite this, the report suggests that he will be made available this summer and is expected to leave London.
Hojbjerg’s current contract is set to run until the end of next season, which means that he would be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with any foreign club from next January onwards.
