Steelers Backup Plan Could be Tom Brady

The Pittsburgh Steelers last resort may be Tom Brady.

In this story:PITTSBURGH — What if the Pittsburgh Steelers’ first plan doesn’t work out? If Russell Wilson and Justin Fields don’t turn into the quarterback combo the team hopes they will, and the team needs a third option late in the season?

Maybe they call Tom Brady.

In a recent podcast with TikTok star Vic Blends, the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback said he’s open to returning to the NFL if a team needed him for a playoff push.

“I’m not opposed to it,” Brady said. “I don’t know if they’re going to let me if I become an owner of an NFL team, but I don’t know. I’m always going to be in good shape. Always going to be able to throw the ball. So, for a little bit, like [Michael Jordan] coming back, I don’t know if they’d let me but I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”

The Steelers have their expected starter in Wilson and a young backup in Fields. No one knows for certain if either will work out, but it wouldn’t change the team’s expectations. This year, they’re looking to make noise in the playoffs, and all of their moves – and interviews – have indicated that.

With Mike Tomlin leading the way, the Steelers are always expected to be a team with playoff potential. If they find themselves in the midst of a battle with a needed upgrade at quarterback, maybe they give 46-year-old Brady a call.
