Steelers Tie Cowboys’ NFL Record with 21 Non-Losing Seasons in a Row; 18 with Tomlin

The Steelers improved to 9-3 after defeating the Cincinnati Bengals 48-44 on Sunday and secured their 21st consecutive winning season, tying the Dallas Cowboys’ 1965-1985 streak, according to NFL.com’s Grant Gordon.

Head coach Mike Tomlin has guided the Steelers through 18 of their 21 consecutive winning seasons.

Pittsburgh’s streak began in the final seasons under Hall of Fame head coach Bill Cowher, who led the team to a Super Bowl victory over the Seattle Seahawks in 2005.

Cowher coached the Steelers for 15 seasons from 1992 to 2006 before Tomlin took over in 2007.

Tomlin’s 18th consecutive season without a losing record is four seasons longer than any other head coach’s streak to start their career, according to Gordon.

If Pittsburgh stays above .500 next season, they will surpass another Hall of Fame coach, Tom Landry and his Cowboys’ streak by securing their 22nd consecutive winning season.

The Steelers and Tomlin secured this milestone much earlier than in recent seasons. They didn’t clinch a non-losing record until Week 17 in 2021 and Week 18 in 2022, per Gordon.

Tomlin and the Steelers sit atop the AFC North as they continue their push for the postseason. They will aim to maintain their momentum against the Cleveland Browns next Sunday at home.
