Stellar Blade Dev Massively Upgrades 3D Scanning Tech Ahead of Sequel

Eye sore

Image: Push SquareThe Korean developer behind Stellar Blade has massively upgraded its 3D scanning rig, ahead of the release of the title’s hotly anticipated sequel.

The follow-up, which the studio already said would release by 2027, will almost certainly launch on the PS5 as Sony served as the publisher on the original game across both PC and console.

And you can probably expect some character model upgrades, as the company’s new in-house 3D scanning system includes hundreds of cameras and even more cables. Apparently, it took a whopping two months just to organise all of the wires.

The studio famously scanned the body of real-life Korean model Shin Jae-eun for heroine Eve, a detail which was confirmed to us by director Hyung-Tae Kim prior to release. Some post-release content was based on the body of cosplayer Yoon Seol-hwa, however.
