It’s been an eventful 24 hours for the Dallas Cowboys.
Owner Jerry Jones told the media that he doesn’t “have any urgency” to sign wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to a new contract.
This prompted the All-Pro pass catcher to respond on X by simply posting “lol.”
Dak Prescott spoke about the matter to close out his press conference on Thursday.
“I know y’all want to ask [about Jones’ comments],” Prescott said. “I got urgency for it to happen.”
Jerry Jones on the CeeDee Lamb talks:
“We’re getting great work [done] and making real progress. I don’t think [we’re] losing a step with where we are now.”
He also says there isn’t a sense of urgency to get a deal done before the end of training camp.#DallasCowboys https://t.co/Srmyk7XcHw
— Nick Harris (@NickHarrisDC) August 8, 2024Now, Stephen Jones is weighing in on the matter. The Executive Vice President of the Cowboys gives fans some reassurance regarding the futures of not just Dak and Lamb, but Micah Parsons as well, saying all three are a priority for Dallas.
“We plan on doing it,” Jones said on The Doomsday Podcast. “We want all three players here. We have the best chance of winning a championship by having those players on our roster.”

— A to Z Sports (@AtoZSportsNFL) August 9, 2024The Cowboys’ dysfunction has been put on full display over the entire offseason, but specifically over the last 24 hours. Lamb and Prescott are still without long-term extensions and both are in the final years of their respective contracts. We’ll see where this saga goes next.
