Street Fighter 6 Player Count – How Many Play in 2024?

Street Fighter 6 has had a huge launch, with tons of players trying out the next-gen fighting game experience. Although, we’re quite a bit into the game’s life now moving into 2024. How many people still play, what’s the Street Fighter 6 player count?

Pretty much everyone in fighting games jumped into the new title when it was new. Months after release the Street Fighter 6 player count still hadn’t slowed down. After the Street Fighter 6 player count broke 1 million in a single weekend, it didn’t take long to hit another milestone for the game. The title crossed 2 million players quite soon after.

2 million might not be huge for the Fortnite player count or some other shooters, but for a fighting game this is an amazing start. That sales have continued like this after that initial weekend shows the game definitely has staying power. It’s now even closer to eclipsing Street Fighter V, and ahead of some of the more niche fighting games. Now a little ways in though, how does the Street Fighter 6 player count look in 2024?

Street Fighter 6 Player Count in 2024
Figuring out how many players are in a game regularly is tricky. However, Street Fighter 6’s sales numbers can give us a clear view of how many people can play. The game hasn’t gotten beyond 2.5 million in terms of a major milestone. Capcom will likely give another announcement on sales when it next reaches a big threshold like 5 million sales.

The number of players actively playing is a bit simpler, on PC. Steam charts give us an accurate look at current player counts. Although, console doesn’t provide these figures.

On Steam, around 20,000 players typically jump in a day. This is quite close to the Brawlhalla player count and decent for a fighting game.  Its all time peak is 70,000 although it doesn’t get to that height very often.

Street Fighter 6 Crosses 2 Million

Since its launch on the 2nd of June, Street Fighter has managed to sell over 2 million copies! In just a few weeks that’s a big achievement. The game is massively ahead of the pace of its predecessor, SF V. That game took three months to get to 1.4 million sales Even with the pace slowing after release, Street Fighter 6 is already bound to be way ahead at that mark.

Capcom has announced a special gift for players to commemorate the sales figure. They’ll all receive “a small token” of their appreciation of being part of one of the biggest fighting game launches.

The game isn’t quite the best-selling Street Fighter title yet. Older instalments in the series like Street Fighter II managed to amass 15.5 million copies. Although, Street Fighter 6’s momentum so far looks strong. The retro titles in the series have had decades to build up that player count, it looks like the sixth instalment might get there a bit faster though. It could even become the best-selling games in the series once it’s finished.

Hits 1 Million in First Weekend
The Street Fighter 6 player count in the opening weekend already crossed 1 million players! How does that compare to other fighting games though? It’s already up there as one of the best fighting games of this generation in sales. A single week in, it was already a decent chunk into Street Fighter V’s lifetime sales of 7 million. It’s also just passed major fighting games like Guilty Gear Strive too!

This milestone for the player count has helped the series pass a target too. The whole franchise has now crossed a total of 50 million players! That puts it pretty high up. It’s not quite Brawlhalla’s 100 million accounts, but Street Fighter 6 isn’t free to play either!

In terms of how many of the Street Fighter player count are active, the numbers we’ve seen from Steam have been pretty stable in the month since release. Although, its all-time peak blew away previous highs for the big 3 fighting franchises, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Tekken. The previous instalment in SF topped out at 14,783, considerably below this early achievement for Street Fighter 6.
