Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman reveals key reason for his success at Atalanta

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has revealed that Gian Pero Gasperiniā€™s attacking style of play has been key to his upturn in form at Atalanta, Soccernet.ng reports.

Lookman joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig last season in a deal worth ā‚¬9.2million, and he has repaid every penny spent. The Nigerian attacker has become important for the Bergamo-based side, performing way above expectations.

Last season, Lookman registered 13 goals and eight assists in 31 Serie A games, even higher than Rasmus Hojlund, who moved to Manchester United last summer.

This season, the 26-year-old has continued with his impressive performances, helping La Dea with eight goals and four assists in 24 games. The former Everton man is unarguably enjoying the best spell of his career, and he has revealed that Gasperiniā€™s football ideology has been key to his displays.

ā€œOver the years, Atalanta have been known for playing attacking football, so for me to come into this positive style of play is great for me as an attacker,ā€ Lookman told the Athletic.

ā€œGasperini (Atalanta coach) is very big on playing forward and creating many opportunities to score goals. For me, he has made my football much simpler in how I think about it.ā€

Atalanta currently sit eighth in the Serie A, eight points behind fourth-place Bologna, albeit with a game in hand. Lookman will be looking to play an important role for La Dea as they push for the final European spot in their last eight games of the campaign.
