Super Eagles star valued at N72 billion on the radar of Tottenham, Liverpool, and Man City
Scouts from Premier League heavyweights Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United were recently spotted at Atalanta’s 3-0 Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk, with their focus firmly set on Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, Soccernet.ng understands.
According to TBR Football, the English clubs are closely monitoring Lookman as a potential transfer target ahead of the January window.
Liverpool, along with their Premier League rivals, sent representatives to the match, where the 26-year-old winger delivered an eye-catching performance, scoring his first Champions League goal and providing an assist in the dominant win.
The former Everton and Leicester City forward was named the man of the match.
Lookman, who joined Atalanta in 2022, has quickly become a key figure in their attack.
His standout performance in the 2024 Europa League final, where he netted a hat-trick to secure a 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, has only added to his growing reputation.
Last season, the Nigerian international finished with 17 goals and 10 assists, and he has continued his fine form this term, contributing three goals and two assists in just six games.
Lookman’s blistering pace, creativity, and versatility across the forward line have made him a prime target for these Premier League clubs who are seeking to bolster their attacking options.
His impressive tally of 35 goals and 20 assists in 84 appearances for Atalanta has further solidified his status as one of Europe’s rising stars.
The Nigeria international will not leave Atalanta on the cheap though, as he is currently valued at €40 million (approx. 72 billion naira).
Interestingly, Atalanta only paid €9.35 million (approx.16.8 billion naira) to secure Lookman’s services from German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig two years ago.
With the January transfer window approaching, Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Newcastle will continue to assess Lookman as they look to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season.
