T.J. Holmes Chicago Marathon Worries Come True, As Unfortunate Injury At The Event Lands Him In The Ambulance

TJ Holmes seemingly predicted his own doom. The 47-year-old was overly excited for the Chicago Marathon. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out well for the American journalist as he left the arena in an ambulance. The 47-year-old journalist took part in the recently concluded Chicago Marathon along with his partner, Amy Robach. Aiming to win the crown, Holmes looked fine until the 21-mile mark.

Injuring his Achilles, Holmes felt significant discomfort that did not allow him to finish the remainder of the 26.2-mile race. Unable to walk, Holmes was immediately stretchered into an ambulance, where he was taken to a hospital to receive medical treatment.  Updating his fans about the injury, Holmes took to his Instagram account and wrote, “So this happened. Full story to come
.” Along with the post, the journalist shared a picture of himself lying inside the ambulance.

His legs could be seen strapped to a gurney, with another video portraying a concerned look on the journalist’s face. Now with the withdrawal of Holmes, his partner Robach also had to put a premature end to her run. She, too, put out an Instagram story featuring the heavily strapped legs of Holmes. Robach captioned her story, “Mile 21 and the Achilles gave out.”

There are no official statements given yet by either of Holmes’s or Robach’s representatives. It is assumed that the injury took place somewhere between the 15th and the 21st miles of the Chicago Marathon. Interestingly, while the injury might have been a heartbreaking experience for Holmes, he already foreshadowed the same prior to the marathon. In an Instagram update from last Wednesday, Holmes shared his worries about his participation in the Chicago Marathon.

Detailing his concerns, Holmes mentioned that he has been looking forward to the Chicago Marathon and has been training rigorously for months. Yet Holmes was feeling a hint of doubt about injuring himself. Posting a picture of himself post his training, TJ Holmes stated, “Last training run before Chicago marathon on Sunday. What? Do I look worried? Achilles ain’t right.” A major reason for such a drastic increase in tension was Holmes’ recent Achilles injury. It caused him significant discomfort, hindering his ability to walk or run freely. And despite Holmes’ fortune-telling coming true in a sad way, the American journalist’s love for track and field is a well-known affair.
