Talking Point: Are You Excited For Double Fine’s Follow-Up To Psychonauts 2?
During Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase last month, we thought one first-party game in particular flew under the radar a little bit – that being Double Fine’s Keeper. Yep, the studio that brought us the excellent Psychonauts 2 in 2021 is back again later this year with its next effort, and we want to know if you’re excited for its nearby release.
Truth be told, we don’t know exactly what to expect with Keeper, other than it being another quirky and deeply intriguing release from the Xbox developer. To be honest though, we don’t really need to know a whole lot about a new Double Fine game heading into it – this team pretty much always delivers something worth checking out.
Going off official descriptions of the upcoming title, Keeper “embarks upon a heartening tale of unlikely companionship, and an unexpected journey into realms beyond understanding” – which is music to our ears, especially after Psychonauts 2. In fact, here’s the game’s full description from Double Fine Productions:
“From Lee Petty and Double Fine Productions, creators of Stacking, Headlander, RAD, and Psychonauts, Keeper is a beautiful and surreal third-person, atmospheric, puzzle adventure, and a story told without words.
On an island in a long-lost sea, a forgotten lighthouse stands dormant in the shadow of a distant mountain peak. As withering tendrils spread and coalesce, it awakens. Taken with a mysterious sense of purpose and joined by a spirited seabird, it embarks upon a heartening tale of unlikely companionship, an odyssey of mystifying metamorphosis, and an unexpected journey towards the center of the island, into realms beyond understanding.”
So, is this something you’re liking the sound of? Honestly, we haven’t spoken about this one much since its reveal last month, but we’re definitely excited to go hands on with it in just a few short months here in October 2025. It’s looking like a stacked month, but are you managing to squeeze this one in on Xbox Game Pass?
Tell us if you’re excited about Keeper in the poll below, and discuss further in the comments!
