Six months into the year

Well folks, June is almost coming to a close here, which means we’re just about at the half way point for 2025! It’s been a very busy start to the year in gaming – particularly on the Xbox side of things where multiple first-party titles and new Game Pass releases have graced our screens over the last six months.

So, we’re checking in to see what your GOTY nominees are so far for 2025! As we say, there are lots of contenders already – including Avowed, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Monster Hunter Wilds, South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Oblivion Remastered, DOOM: The Dark Ages and more. The majority of these were on Xbox Game Pass too, which is a lovely bonus!

So far, we’ve given out just the one 10/10 here at Pure Xbox in 2025; that being Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – which we’re guessing will make lots of your GOTY lists this year. Dropping down to the 9/10 category, we’ve handed out five of those; for KCD2, Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection, Split Fiction, South of Midnight and the new DOOM.

Of course, there’s plenty more big games coming to Xbox over the next six months, but for now – what’s your 2025 Game of the Year so far? What Xbox game from the last six months can you not stop talking about? We’ve thrown the biggest candidates into a poll down below, but of course, head to the comments (and hit the “other” button) if your choice is missing from the list!

Ben is a News Writer at Pure Xbox, and is a fan of action, racing and straight-up shootin’ in any Xbox game he can get his hands on. When he’s not clutching an Xbox controller like his life depends on it, Ben spends his time listening to music that’s far too old for him, watching football on the telly and probably eating somewhere.
