talkSPORT betting tips – Best football bets and expert advice for Sunday 17 March
There is just one Premier League fixture being staged on Sunday when European victors West Ham and Aston Villa lock horns at the London Stadium.
But there are other games being played around Europe’s big league and we’ve a couple of nice tips from La Liga and Serie A as well as a Bet Builder from the Hammers’ game.
Bet of the dayVillarreal to beat Valencia – 11/10
It’s Derbi de la Comunitat day in Spain and Villarreal should be taken to see off bitter rivals Valencia at the Ceramica.
Valencia have been beaten seven times on their travels in La Liga, the worst away record of any side in the top half of the table. And their three away wins were against teams currently in the division’s bottom seven.
They have also lost on their last four league trips down the coast to face Villarreal, who are improving week on week under Marcelino.
Villarreal come into the match following a Europa League exit at the hands of Marseille but having won the home leg 3-1 on Thursday, going out 4-3 on aggregate.
It was a brave effort from a team who are unbeaten in eight in the league, a sequence that includes a 5-3 win at Barcelona and 3-1 win at Sociedad.

Special of the dayBet Builder: West Ham v Aston Villa – Over 2.5 Goals, L Paqueta 2+ shots, Over 4.5 Aston Villa Corners – 33/10
West Ham versus Aston Villa is the only game of the day in the Premier League – and it promises to be an entertaining affair.
Both teams were in rich scoring form in European competition on Thursday night – the Hammers thrashing Freiburg 5-0 and Villa crushing Ajax 4-0 – and both need to bounce back from Premier League disappointment last weekend, when West Ham were held 2-2 by Burnley and Unai Emery’s men battered 4-0 at home by Spurs.
Expect goals at the London Stadium with over 2.5 the bedrock of a Bet Builder which pays out at 33/10.
Leg two should be Lucas Paqueta to take two or more shots. The Brazilian has revived West Ham’s attack since his return and fired off four efforts in the draw with Burnley last weekend.
A punt on Villa to win over 4.5 corners completes our same-game treble. The Villans average 6.5 on their travels so should be able to muster five in east London.
Long shot of the day Omar Marmoush first scorer – 7/1
With Champions League heroes Borussia Dortmund a short price to see off Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, it means there is plenty of value around the visitors.
Frankfurt head for Signal Iduna Park in good form with only one defeat in their last 10 – 2-0 at Cologne – yet they are dismissed as 4/1 outsiders for this tussle.
That in itself doesn’t look unattractive, although an interest on Omar Marmoush scoring the first goal looks an even more enticing play.
The in-form Egyptian is 7/1 to open the scoring, which is generous for a 10-goal centre-forward who has found the net three times in five league games since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.
