Tammy Slaton’s Cousin Katie Slaton Dead at 37

ā€˜1000-Lb. Sisters’ Star Katie Slaton Dead After Cancer Battle

The Slaton family are mourning the loss of a loved one.

Katie Slaton—cousin to Amy Slaton and Tammy Slaton, the stars of 1000-Lb. Sisters—has died following a battle with stage 4 cancer, Amy and Tammy’s sister Amanda Halterman confirmed. Katie was 37.

ā€œIt is with a completely crushed heart and spirit that I have to post this,ā€ Amanda wrote on Instagram August 26. ā€œMy little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday. She was a force to be reckoned with and showed love that was accepting and given freely. She was the life of the party and my best friend.ā€

Amanda continued, ā€œI know both our grandparents and friends was there to welcome you home. Please pray for everyone whom loves her. Thank you all who has come out and supported her.ā€

An obituary posted online for Katie shared, ā€œShe enjoyed fishing, music, and hanging out with family and friends.ā€

She is survived, per the obituary, by her parents Jerry Slaton and Frances Slaton, her partner Natalie BailieĀ as well as children Landon, LiamĀ and Lily, in addition to ā€œa host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.ā€

GoFundMe

Katie—who appeared alongside her cousins on the TLC series on multiple occasions—was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric adenocarcinoma, a rare form of stomach cancer, at the beginning of the year, according toĀ People.Ā 

In February, Katie’s partner Natalie shared an update to Facebook confirming Katie had started chemotherapy and that her ā€œsymptoms with her cancer seemed to improve.ā€

ā€œBoth our families have been so great throughout this whole process,ā€ Natalie added. ā€œWe could not get through this without you! Thank you everyone for the thoughts and prayers! #Katiestrong.ā€

Amanda and her partner Leonard Moore also set up a GoFundMe for Katie around the time of her diagnosis where she shared a few updates on her cousin’s health.

ā€œThis isn’t just about money—it’s about showing love, care, and hope for someone who truly needs it right now,ā€ Amanda wrote. ā€œKatie’s GoFundMe account has been set up to help with medical expenses and provide some relief during this incredibly tough time. Even the smallest contributions or simply sharing her story can make a world of difference.ā€

She added, ā€œKatie is a fighter, andĀ with your help, we can make sure she feels the support and love she deserves.ā€
