‘Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari’ Gets Fifth Season

The 12th and final episode of Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari Season 4 (The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4) ended with an announcement on Wednesday that a fifth season is in production. The official website also revealed a teaser promo, and an ultra-teaser visual (pictured).

Produced by Kinema Citrus, the first season aired in 25 episodes in Winter 2019. The second and third seasons aired in Spring 2022 and Fall 2023, respectively. The latest, Season 4, aired in Summer 2025, consisting of 12 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed the anime with subtitles and dubs in multiple languages.

Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari adapts Yusagi Aneko’s adventure fantasy light novel of the same title, which originally launched on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in October 2012. Kadokawa began printing the novel with illustrations by Seira Minami the following August. The 22nd volume was released in June 2019. The series has a cumulative 11 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

Kyu Aiya began serializing a manga adaptation in Comic Flapper in February 2014. Kadokawa shipped the 28th volume on July 23.

One Peace Book licensed both the light novel and manga in English in 2015. The 22nd light novel volume went on sale in December 2021, and the 23rd manga volume was released on January 7.
