Taylor Swift Grammys joke: Singer celebrated by host Trevor Noah a month after humorless Golden Globes

One may say Trevor Noah’s Taylor Swift joke at the 2024 Grammys is better than revenge.

The award show host had plenty to say about the singer, as one does about the NFL-stopping singer who’s up for six Grammys. He had all good things to say, however, throwing in a few football jokes in honor of Travis Kelce, who couldn’t make it to Los Angeles due to Super Bowl prep.

It’s a stark comparison to how she was treated only a month ago at the Golden Globes. Host Jo Koy went for the big guns when he said, “”The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift.”

Needless to say it was a laughless punch. Swift, and many of her costars, very obviously did not enjoy the joke, and Koy received much criticism following the show.

Noah got the opposite reaction at the Grammys.

Taylor Swift Grammys jokeNoah knew he’d need to be on his best behavior as a Grammys host. He had to have known that only an hour later, the singer would announce her brand new album, The Tortured Poets Department, right?

Whether he did or not doesn’t matter. The comedian was a hit all around. Unlike Koy, he incorporated Swift’s football involvement tastefully, going so far as to criticize those who mock the star for being on Chiefs broadcasts.

“I think it is so unfair how NFL fans have been complaining about the cameras panning to Taylor Swift, like she’s controlling the cameras at the game,” Noah said. “Just let her live.”

— Variety (@Variety) February 5, 2024Before, as Swift made a late (but grand) entrance to her seat, Noah indirectly complimented the singer on her tour accomplishments just days before she’s set to depart to Japan. Swift’s Eras Tour became the highest grossing tour of all time, the first tour to ever reach a billion dollars.

Her concerts, literally, made an impact wherever she went. The same can be said for own person.
