Taylor Swift’s Leather Minidress Was the Star of Yet Another ‘Reputation’-Coded Date-Night Look
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce may not be Viva-ing in Las Vegas anymore, but that doesn’t mean we’re done talking about last weekend’s rendezvous. Listen, what happens in Vegas only stayed in Vegas before the social media era.
Nearly one week after Swift and Kelce’s unseen double date with Brittany and Patrick Mahomes on February 26, Instagram user Karla Santi shared a video of the couple exiting Easy’s cocktail lounge at the Aria Resort & Casino, a speakeasy camouflaged as a bake shop called Easy Donuts. Though TMZ previously reported on the “low-key” outing, Santi has been holding onto what appears be the only fan footage of the couple and, more importantly, Swift’s date-night ’fit.
“I was reluctant to share since @taylorswift deserves some privacy, but no one has posted about how darn cute her dress is from last Friday night in Vegas,” she captioned her post. “And, I guess @killatrav looks okay, too. 😉” She continued, “Hope date night was fun for them both. They sure made ours memorable, too.” You can see the clip for yourself here.
According to Santi, she captured Swift and Kelce leaving the establishment hand-in-hand after midnight. In the clip Kelce is dressed in a head-to-toe salmon pink look while Swift rocks a flirty black (or possibly brown) leather minidress with a pair of sling-backs. Though the long-sleeved fit-and-flare dress has yet to be identified by internet sleuths, it’s a similar silhouette to the Alaïa Metallic Stretch Wool-Blend Minidress she recently wore to another Vegas outing, per Taylor Swift style expert Sarah Chappelle.
One day after this video was taken, Swift attended 15 and the Mahomies Foundation’s charity gala and auction event wearing Maria Lucia Hohan’s green Regina dress ($2,405), reigniting Reputation (Taylor’s Version) speculation in the wake of The Tortured Poets Department album release on April 19. Considering how many TTPD easter eggs Swift’s been hiding in her ’fits for the past six months, it doesn’t feel like a big stretch to believe this was intentional.
“Taylor has uniquely positioned herself as the arbiter of her public image and somebody who cares very deeply about the intention in which she shows up in the public eye,” Chapelle recently told Glamour. “As a medium of communication, her fashion is a tool that she likes to wield and utilize. Whether that means distinguishing eras over the course of her career or sending red herrings to fans to drive them into a frenzy.”
That’s absolutely true—and don’t we just love her for it?
