‘Ten Count’ Anime Cancels Production

The official website for the anime adaptation of Rihito Takarai’s Ten Count manga announced on Friday that production of the anime has been canceled.

In a statement on the official website and X (formerly Twitter), the production committee cites production circumstances as the reason that led to the cancellation of the anime. The official website and X will be closed on March 31.

Originally announced in March 2018, the anime was scheduled to air on television in 2020. Later that year, however, the production committee stated that the broadcast will be postponed as the staff reconsiders the development format. The anime was reformatted as a movie in October 2022 with a 2023 premiere, but was not released.

Sou Toyama (Mayonaka no Occult Koumuin episode director) was directing and penning the anime at East Fish Studio and SynergySP. Tomomi Shimazaki (Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou) was the character designer. Production company Pony Canyon was in charge of distribution.

Voice actors Shinnosuke Tachibana (Sekaiichi Hatsukoi) and Tomoaki Maeno (Hitorijime My Hero) were reprising their roles from the drama CD as Tadaomi Shirotani and Riku Kurose, respectively.

Takarai serialized the boys love drama manga in Dear+ magazine between July 2013 and November 2017. Shinshokan published the sixth and final volume in March 2018. VIZ Media licensed the manga under its SuBLime imprint in English in 2015 and released the sixth and final volume in December 2018.
