Following the cancellation of the remaining Tenacious D tour dates by bandmate Jack Black, things have gotten worse for Kyle Gass. His long-time talent agent has announced the two have parted ways following comments made in Sydney.Michael Greene of Greene Talent has confirmed that he is no longer representing Gass following his comments on-stage about the assassination attempt. “We have parted ways after what happened in Sydney,” Greene told Rolling Stone in an email.
Tenacious D was performing at the ICC Sydney Theatre, with Jack Black rolling out a cake to celebrate Kyle’s birthday. Jack Black asked Gass to make a wish, to which he did, making the comment, “Don’t miss Trump next time.” The comment received laughter from the audience, but quickly drew ire from politicians in Australia.
Black took to social media to apologize for the comments, stating that the remainder of the Tenacious D tour is canceled. “After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”
Gass also took to social media to apologize for the comments, stating: “The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake. I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgment. I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret the pain I caused.”
The incident occurred during the ICC Sydney performance on July 14, but the band was slated to tour across Australia and New Zealand.
