Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Dev ‘Still Discussing’ Compensation For Broken Launch
Give us the goods, Nacon

Open world racer Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown was quite broken at launch, particularly during the game’s ‘early access’ window, where Gold Edition owners were supposed to be able to hop in and play early. Since then, we’ve heard bits and pieces about what’s next for the game, but today’s developer update is a more comprehensive breakdown about the ‘next steps’ for TDU:SC.
Well, we say more comprehensive, but that relates to the sheer length of the chat rather than anything particularly constructive coming out of it. Nacon and KT Racing address things like offline modes, AI issues, optimisation and even compensation for day one owners here – without really committing to anything specific.
For now at least, we’d have liked some more info on that early adopter compensation – we understand that the rest of these issues will take time to address. However, the team isn’t quite ready to deliver its planned compensation to players just yet.
“I think that right now, we don’t exactly know what we want to do. We’re still discussing it [compensation] among ourselves. What takes time right now is not so much to give it to you, but to provide you with something that matches what happened with the servers. Of course, it won’t be one million solar coins — we know that will just ruin your experience — we’re looking for something that makes sense in a TDU context. So, that’s coming.”
Okay, so, it’s good to hear that this is still coming in some form, but we’d have liked a bit more context on the team’s planned compensation for day one players here. Alas, that bonus, alongside lots of the game’s other core issues, are still being worked on over at Nacon and KT Racing.
If you’d like a bit more background on what’s being planned, feel free to check out the developer update video up above. Go in with muted expectations though, because lots of these fixes and changes are still being figured out by the teams involved.
What do you make of this news, TDU fans? Go ahead and discuss the dev update down below.
