“That can never be washed away” – West Ham’s Ghanaian star boy Kudus names Okocha as the greatest African player
West Ham United forward, Mohammed Kudus, has singled out Nigerian legendary midfielder, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, as the greatest African player, as reported by Soccernet.ng.
Okocha, renowned for his dazzling displays, began his European career in Germany, playing for Borussia Neunkirchen before moving to Eintracht Frankfurt, where he scored 18 goals in 90 appearances.
The former Bolton Wanderers player mesmerized audiences with his talent and elegance during his time there, leaving a lasting impression on his teammates and club.
This captivating performance by Okocha serves as a source of inspiration for aspiring African footballers, including Kudus, who is gaining prominence in the English Premier League.
Speaking to SkySports, Kudus named Okocha as the greatest African footballer, attributing this to his entertaining style of play that kept fans happy both on and off the pitch.
“In my lens from explaining how I see creative players that are trying to entertain the game. That can never be washed away. The fans can never forget the experience, the entertainment you give them on the pitch. I know goals and assists are important and stuff like that, but I like creative players and players that try to entertain the fans. Try to do things different from what everyone else is doing than just passing the ball.” he said.
