The Award For The Most Boring City In Australia Goes To…
Reddit user u/Few_Western8305 recently ventured into Australia from America and spent some time in Adelaide and Melbourne. Following their trip, they took to Reddit to learn more about other Down Under locales. In their research they observed Adelaide copping a lot of criticism. This prompted them to ask, “What is actually the most boring city in Australia?”
1.
Wagga Wagga, NSW

“[It’s] the biggest inland city in NSW and dull as dishwater.”
— u/Leropenn
“That would be my vote too. It’s a great place to raise a family — partially because of how boring it is — because it’s got those country town vibes with more amenities. But if you want anything that isn’t a necessity there’s almost nothing… The most exciting thing to happen here recently was that a chocolate cafe opened up.”

“There’s something about it that’s just so soulless compared to reasonably similar sized cities like Albury-Wodonga, Orange etc.”
— u/SaveMeJebus21
2.
Ipswich, QLD

“Ronald McDonald is the only person awake after nine o’clock.”

3.
Adelaide, SA

“It’s dreadful here. Nobody should move here at all. Not at all. Stay far away. Stop coming. Please! (Think they’re buying it?)”
— u/homenomics23
“Agree that Adelaide is boring. Please do not visit us and stop buying properties here. Stay wherever you currently are as we have nothing to offer you.”
— u/LondonGirl4444
4.
Goulburn, NSW

“Actually it’s the 8th wonder of the world. It is the only hole above ground.”
— u/Fozzy-B-Bear
“Even the Giant Merino doesn’t save it.”
— u/ZippyKoala
5.
Moe, Morwell or Traralgon, VIC

“I cannot think of any real reason to go there if you didn’t know someone there. The area around there is quite pleasant though.”
— u/rob_080
6.
Canberra, ACT

“Just spent four weekdays and three week nights in Canberra and it MUST be near the top of the list.”
— u/nasigoring
7.
Port Augusta, SA

“Lived there for a year to work in child protection many years ago and it is the biggest shit hole dumpster you have ever seen. It is pretty enough on a quick drive through but [there’s] nothing redeeming about the town except how quickly you can leave.”
— u/EatTheBrokies
8.
Brisbane, QLD
Instagram @visitbrisbane / Via instagram.com
“I lived for 10 years in Brisbane and one of most memorable moments was trekking for an hour with a housemate to get a succulent Chinese meal in Sunnybank at 11pm. There are some places that are open late. The vibe in Brisbane died for me when I found out that Tongs Chicken and Karaoke on Elizabeth went away.”
— u/cynikles
“Easy place to live, but there’s nothing that brings you here.”
— u/Gazza_s_89
9.
Melbourne, VIC
Instagram @visitmelbourne / Via instagram.com
“I feel likes it’s one of those places you have to go with someone who knows where to go. Every time I’ve been it’s been by myself (couple of overnighters and day trips) and been bored out of my mind. Did find a few nice restaurants though.”
— u/JadeLogan123
10.
Sydney, NSW

“Newtown used to be bangin’, then COVID hit and killed half the good clubs along King Street. Still going strong four years later but the pastizzi bar was where the good food was at night.”
— u/abaddamn
11.
And finally, Newcastle, NSW
