Letā€™s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

In Roobā€™s Observations: The Saquon show continues as Eagles take down Rams – NBCSP
1. Letā€™s have a conversation about Saquon Barkley. Iā€™m out of adjectives to describe what heā€™s doing. Completely bat-bleep preposterous. Just when you think youā€™ve seen it all, he opens the third quarter of a one-possession game with a 70-yard touchdown run and then follows that with a 72-yarder to put the game away in the fourth quarter. Barkley is the sixth player in NFL history with two 70-yard touchdown runs in the same game. He was astonishing Sunday night. He finished with a franchise-record 255 rushing yards ā€“ and 302 scrimmage yards ā€” 9th-most in NFL history. Wilbert Montgomery was incredible when he was healthy. Brian Westbrook was amazing. LeSean McCoy may be a Hall of Famer. But Iā€™ve never seen anything like what Barkley is doing. He isnā€™t just having one of the best seasons ever by an Eagles running back, heā€™s having one of the best seasons ever by any running back. Heā€™s now up to a career-high 1,392 rushing yards ā€¦ with six games to go. His career high was 1,312 two years ago with the Giants. If people arenā€™t considering him as a serious MVP candidate because heā€™s not a quarterback, theyā€™re clueless. Heā€™s the best player Iā€™ve ever seen, dangit. [BLG Note: Roobā€™s been covering the Eagles for a long time. For him to say this is something.]

Saquon Barkley runs for Eagles-record 255 yards in win vs. Rams – ESPN
Saquon Barkley ran off the SoFi Stadium field Sunday night with two game balls under one arm and the other hand raised toward the sky as Philadelphia Eagles fans showered him with chants of ā€œMVP!ā€ If he keeps playing like this, he might just be the first running back since Adrian Peterson in 2012 to capture the award. Barkley had a career night in the Eaglesā€™ 37-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams, posting 302 scrimmage yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns, both of which went for 70-plus yards. ā€œHeā€™s a different type of player,ā€ Rams rookie outside linebacker Jared Verse said. ā€œIā€™ve never seen a running back like that.ā€

2024 NFL season, Week 12: What We Learned from Sundayā€™s games – NFL.com
Saquon, Eagles run roughshod over Rams. Who knew the fountain of youth was located in Philly? Saquon Barkley perhaps, as the seventh-year proā€™s first season with the Eagles has fast become the best in his decorated career, accentuated by one of the finest rushing performances in NFL chronicle on Sunday night. The two-time Pro Bowler ran for an Eagles franchise-record 255 yards on 26 carries, with a pair of 70-plus-yard touchdowns included. All told, he had 302 scrimmage yards, becoming just the 12th NFL player to eclipse 300 scrimmage yards in a game. Barkley had a solid 73 rushing yards in the first half before he almost equaled that output on the second halfā€™s first play from scrimmage, bursting loose for a 70-yard touchdown in which he navigated traffic through the first two levels and blazed past Rams defensive backs, who looked to be in slow motion as he sprinted to six. With the contest decided and less than three minutes remaining, Barkley sped to a 72-yard touchdown to turn his amazing evening into a historic one, as he etched his name in his new teamā€™s record books and among the top 10 single-game rushing showings in NFL history. Barkley now leads the league with 1,392 rushing yards, which is a new career high. Entering Week 12, the Eagles boasted the leagueā€™s top rushing attack and they flexed their ground greatness Sunday, racking up 314 rushing yards. With Barkley and the running game chugging along, the Eagles are off to a 9-2 start ā€” which is also the best of Barkleyā€™s career and just the second time heā€™s ever been on a team with nine victories.

Saquon – Iggles Blitz
Los Angeles is the city where stars go to shine so it should be no surprise that Saquon Barkley had the best game of his career in LA on Sunday night. He ran for 255 yards and finished with 302 total yards and a pair of TDs. Barkley had two runs of 70 or more yards. Wow. You run out of superlatives when talking about Barkley and how special he is. Heā€™s never played at this level in his pro career. The Eagles have given him a good home and Barkley has rewarded them with a season for the ages. He is on pace to run for more than 2,000 yardsā€¦in 16 games. What an absolute stud.

NFL Week 12 Recap: Philadelphia Eagles 37, Los Angeles Rams 20 – PFF
Another week, another stellar performance from Eagles running back Saquon Barkley. The seventh-year veteran carried the ball 26 times for a staggering 255 rushing yards ā€” the ninth-highest single-game total in NFL history. Barkley amassed 156 rushing yards after contact, scored two touchdowns, and moved the chains five more times. He forced five missed tackles but was also aided by 3.8 yards before contact per carry, highlighting the Eaglesā€™ dominance at the line of scrimmage. As an added bonus, Barkley caught all four of his targets for 47 yards and two first downs, averaging an impressive 2.76 yards per route run.

8 edge rushers the Eagles could sign following the Brandon Graham injury – BGN
Brandon Graham suffering a season-ending (and potentially career-ending?) triceps injury during the Philadelphia Eaglesā€™ win over the Los Angeles Rams is pretty devastating. Heā€™s legitimately been one of their best defenders this year, so, heā€™s not going to be easily replaced. But the show must go on. And the Eagles are currently looking pretty light at edge rusher with BG done for the year, Josh Sweat getting banged up against the Rams, and Bryce Huff recently going on injured reserve. The Eagles currently have two healthy edge rushers: Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt. And so the team is going to need to make a roster move (or multiple) to address this position. Perhaps itā€™ll be as simple as putting BG on injured reserve and signing Tarron Jackson to the roster. Weā€™ll get more into the Eaglesā€™ internal options later. For now, here are some of the top free agent edge rusher options. Itā€™s obviously not the most intriguing list but one canā€™t expect to find great options available in late November.

NFL playoff picture: How Week 12 results impact the AFC, NFC standings – SB Nation
Philadelphia Eagles have put early season struggles behind them. Remember when the Eagles were 2-2 heading into their bye and folks were writing them off because they stumbled down the stretch in 2023? We remember. Theyā€™ve won seven straight since then and are second in the NFC, breathing down the neck of the Detroit Lions. They are 2.5 games up on the Commenders in the NFC East and three games ahead of the Cardinals for the final playoff spot.

Handing out 10 awards from the Eagles-Rams game – PhillyVoice
4) The Adjustment Award: Vic Fangio. On their first two drives, the Rams moved the ball well against the Eagles defense. They gained 53 yards on 5 plays on their first drive, with ended with a lost fumble by Kyren Williams. On their second drive, they drove 70 yards on 9 plays for a TD. Two drives, 14 plays, 123 yards. But as he has done during the Eaglesā€™ winning streak, Vic Fangio adjusted, and the defense played far better the rest of the game. On their next four drives during the first half, the Rams ran 10 plays for -6 yards.

Spadaro: 7 takeaways from the Eaglesā€™ 37-20 win over the Rams on Sunday Night Football – PE.com
4. Defensive adjustment clamps down on Rams. Los Angeles moved the ball on its first two possessions ā€“ 5 plays, 53 yards, and then 9 plays, 64 yards, and a touchdown to take a 7-3 lead ā€“ and then the Eagles revved up the defense. It was a litmus-test kind of game for this defense and what happened? Prior to garbage time late, Los Angeles had 222 total net yards, went 0-for-7 on third down, averaged just 4.4 yards per offensive play, and limited Matthew Stafford to 186 passing yards ā€“ 141 net passing yards after taking into account 5 quarterback sacks for -45 yards. Masterful performance by a group that is a force ā€“ deep and talented and playing with great confidence.

Eagles tricked refs into giving them an advantage – Turf Show Times
The decision would have almost gone unnoticed if not for the fact that Mike Tirico asked Terry McCauley on the broadcast if it was okay to let a coach decline a penalty and then accept it. McCauley said that it was not okay, but that what probably happened is that the refs assumed the Eagles wanted to decline the penalty to setup fourth down and then Sirianni told them thatā€™s not what he wanted to do. It goes a step further when Tirico says that nobody on the Eagles sideline was saying anything to the refs until after they saw the Rams lining up to go for it. Essentially, Sirianni was intentionally passive until after he saw what Sean McVay decided to do and then reacted based on that. To no real fault of his own, Sirianni saw an advantage and he took it because the refs were either too lazy, too complacent, or if Sirianni changed his mind, then too generous. In all cases it boils down to the referees not doing their jobs properly.

Game Recap – Special Teams debacles; Commanders suffer a stunning home loss to Cowboys 34-26 – Hogs Haven
In short, the game is important to Washington. A home loss to the struggling Cowboys would be an embarrassment, and would extend the teamā€™s losing streak to 3 games. While it wouldnā€™t necessarily end Washingtonā€™s chances for a wildcard seeding, such a loss would raise grave doubts about the Commandersā€™ legitimacy as a playoff team and would almost certainly eradicate any chance of winning the division and securing a home playoff game. Washington needs to play well and win big in this game to restore confidence and keep the team on the path it paved early in the season.

10 thoughts on the Cowboys 34-26 wild victory over the Commanders – Blogging The Boys
10. BITTERSWEET. The Cowboys won a football game and played some good football doing it. It wasnā€™t perfect by any means, but there will be positives from this game that can be carried over and thatā€™s huge. Of course, good things come with a price. In a season that isnā€™t likely to result in bonus football in January, this Cowboys win hurts their draft position. And when theyā€™re picking in the top 10, thatā€™s a big deal. Additionally, beating the Commanders helps the Philadelphia Eagles take a step closer to winning the division. Yeah, the win feels nice, but weā€™re going to need a shower afterward.

ā€˜Kudos & Williesā€™: Nothing nice to say about Giants-Bucs, but weā€™re reviewing the game, anyway – Big Blue View
Brian Daboll ā€” The Giants were lifeless. They gave up a 14-play, 70-yard touchdown drive to open the game … and things got worse from there. They were inept on offense and defense. They have lost six straight. They canā€™t block, tackle, cover or hold onto the ball. They shouldnā€™t be this awful, and the reality that they are has to reflect on the coach. There is nothing good to say.
