Inside RB Saquon Barkley’s contract incentives with Eagles – NFL.com
When Saquon Barkley signed with the Eagles, he knew what he was getting — a stellar offensive line, a chance to for a playoff run … and maybe a vultured touchdown or two. In fact, while Barkley is on his way to a career year, poised to eclipse the 1,312 yards he rushed for in 2022, he “only” has eight TDs — thanks in part to the tush push. Interestingly, as sources explained this week, Barkley’s three-year, $37.8 million contract planned for this exact experience by having a grand total of zero dollars in incentives based on touchdowns. With good reason. According to NFL Research, Barkley has been tackled at the 1- or 2-yard line 11 times this season, most in the NFL. Many of those end up as Jalen Hurts scores, which doesn’t hurt Barkley’s bottom line.
Why does Saquon Barkley turn into Superman at halftime? – NBCSP
Barkley is enjoying an all-pro-caliber season in his first year with the Eagles, and with seven games left in the season he’s on pace to shatter a bunch of franchise records and rack up a host of postseason awards. He leads the NFL with 113 rushing yards per game, five more than Derrick Henry, and his 5.8 average is just behind Henry’s 6.0. But the crazy thing about his season is that Barkley never seems to get going until the second half. And in some cases – like Thursday night against Washington – not until the fourth quarter.
10 takeaways from NFL Week 11 – BGN
1 – The Eagles’ defense against the Rams’ offense should be a good matchup. Vic Fangio’s defense has been pretty awesome since the Eagles’ Week 5 bye; his unit has allowed just 11.3 points per game and 190 total yards per game since then. That defense will be tested by a Los Angeles Rams offense that’s averaging 24.8 points per game and 370.3 yards per game since Puka Nacua returned to the starting lineup in Week 8. Granted, it was against the New England Patriots, but Matthew Stafford is coming off his best game of the season. The 36-year-old completed 66.7% of his passes for 295 yards (10.9 average), 4 TD, 0 INT, and a 142.7 passer rating. Stafford’s only taken four sacks (all in Week 10) over the past four weeks. He has the third-fastest average time to throw this season at 2.62 seconds. We saw the Eagles struggle with quick releases when they faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in Week 4.
Mailbag: Can the Eagles catch the Lions for the 1 seed in the NFC? – PhillyVoice
Question from @aerelorn: Based on the remaining Lions/Eagles schedules, what do you think are the chances of passing them for the 1 seed? […] In my opinion, each team has 4 hard games remaining. The difference is that three of the Lions’ hard games are at home, while three of the Eagles’ hard games are on the road. But the beyond the schedules, the Lions are thrashing teams right now. For what it’s worth, Inpredictable gives the following 1 seed odds: Lions: 73%, Eagles: 15%, Vikings: 8%, Packers: 2%, Commanders: 2%. That feels about right to me.
Assessing the Eagles – Iggles Blitz
All that said, the Eagles have shown the ability to take over games. The defense has been stifling and the offense is dangerous when it finally gets going. I know some people still are nervous because of last year’s meltdown. This team is different. Set the players and stats aside. Just look at how this team has handled adversity. Jacksonville got the benefit of a highly questionable (if not awful) call and that turned the game around. The Jags had a chance to win at the end, but the Eagles made the play that sealed the game. The Eagles had some tough luck against WAS and trailed at the end of three quarters. The team never flinched. They scored three straight TDs to take control of the game. The 2023 Eagles found new ways to lose. The 2024 Eagles have found ways to win. The defense keeps games close and then the offense comes alive to blow them open. This is a very different team. As it turns out, the Eagles had a great offseason. That has helped the team to get off to an 8-2 start and put itself up at the top of the league. The Lions still look special, but it would be fun to see what the Eagles could do against them. Maybe we’ll get that chance in January.
Rams vs. Eagles: LA a field goal underdog for Sunday Night Football – Turf Show Times
There’s a reason Philly is on a six-game winning streak and I don’t see the Rams being able to keep up with them offensively. Saquon Barkley is on an absolute tear, and as good as LA’s young defensive line has performed over the last month, I’m afraid they’ll be in for a long night. Barkley will prove too much as the Eagles roll to their seventh straight win to remain in contention for the NFC’s top seed.
Sean McVay: There’s a “risk/reward” with Puka Nacua’s aggressive playing style – PFT
“Fortunately, he’s doing OK. He’s a stud. You do talk about those things, but I think it’s a fine line when you have to make full-speed decisions and so many of those decisions that occur happen so quickly that it’s more instincts than anything else. You don’t want to take away one of his elite traits, you just want to continue to educate him on taking care of his body. Then in some of the practice settings, understanding the give and take of where we can maybe be smart with some decisions that leave you susceptible to those types of collisions or things of that nature.” Nacua’s fearlessness makes him special. But that fearlessness can get him injured. Like McVay said, there’s a fine line between playing at a ridiculously high level and playing with the kind of reckless abandon that can wreck the body.

Dallas Cowboys vs Houston Texans: Dallas blown out again 34-10 for 5th straight loss – Blogging The Boys
Well, that wasn’t fun. The Dallas Cowboys took another big home loss, this time on Monday Night Football in a 34-10 rout from the Houston Texans. But while the outcome wasn’t that surprising, Dallas limps out of it with even more injuries and no relief in sight. Texans RB Joe Mixon dominated the game with 153 total yards and three touchdowns. To his credit, especially after last week, Cooper Rush had 354 passing yards as Dallas abandoned the run early. But with only one touchdown on the night, the volume was mostly empty as the Cowboys couldn’t finish drives and committed two turnovers. Now Dallas has a short week to get ready for a road game against the Washington Commanders. With injuries to over half the offensive line and a concussion to TE Jake Ferguson coming out of tonight, the Cowboys may not have much left to fight with for the rivalry game.
The sky is literally falling in Cowboys stadium as metal sheet plummets from roof – SB Nation
The Cowboys opened the roof of their stadium for the first time in over two years, and that immediately caused a massive piece of sheet metal to plummet from the rafters and crash into the ground below. It’s beyond lucky that nobody was injured in the incident, as dozens of people were gathered on the field, particularly along the sidelines ahead of the Monday Night Football game against the Houston Texans. Another video shows precisely how many people were on the field when crews began to open the roof.
3 takeaways from Giants benching Daniel Jones, moving to Tommy DeVito – Big Blue View
Three straight victories, including a game against the Green Bay Packers in which Devito completed 17 of 21 passes and led a late scoring drive for a game-winning Randy Bullock field goal as time expired. DeVito was a phenomenon. A kid living at home with his parents while quarterbacking the Giants. A local hero with fans waiting in long lines for his autograph. The ‘Tommy Cutlets’ nickname was born, and sandwiches were named after him. It ended when the Giants lost his next two starts and Tyrod Taylor was reinstalled at quarterback. Now, the Giants are hoping for Part 2. “We’ve been with Tommy here for a little bit. He’s done a nice job, I would say, throughout practices here. But also, we have something to lean on by going back and watching him operate some of our stuff from last year,” Daboll said. “I’m excited to see what Tommy brings to the table. Tommy has been improving since he’s been here. Again, have confidence in Drew as well. Just felt like this was the right move to make.”
New York Giants bench QB Daniel Jones — what now? – ESPN
Are the Giants now locked in on taking a quarterback in the 2025 draft? Who are some early names on the radar? With Jones likely playing elsewhere in 2025, the Giants will indeed be looking for a franchise quarterback in the offseason. ESPN’s Football Power Index has New York projected to land the No. 4 overall pick, which would potentially give it the opportunity to take Miami’s Cam Ward or Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders. Ward — my current QB1 ahead of Sanders — is an electric playmaker who can make throws from all types of arm angles. His ability to create inside and outside of structure stands out, even though it sometimes gets him into trouble. Sanders, on the other hand, is a polished pocket passer who can put the ball wherever he wants. He has an average arm, but his poise, field vision and toughness make him the top pure passer in this class.
